The students I am fortunate to teach are a group of wonderful kids from a variety of backgrounds. Some have just recently come to the U.S., while others were born here. Most of my students are bilingual, speaking Spanish at home and English at school.
My students are also very diverse in their interests. Many of them enjoy sports, most of all soccer. Quite a few play instruments, participate in music club, library club, or are chess club members. I really enjoy observing how enthusiastically they get involved in service activities such as cleaning up our campus or helping younger students.
Last but not least, my students are avid readers. I think you would be hard pressed to find a student who is not carrying (and reading!) a library book or even two at any given day.
My goal is for my classroom to be a safe, inviting place, where students feel valued, and are encouraged to be curious and inquisitive.
