Currently, I have one seating choice in my classroom- traditional blue plastic chairs. These chairs work just fine for some students. Other students find these uncomfortable or rigid. They don't allow for movement, for wiggling, for a release of energy that can be otherwise distracting
Every student has different needs, but all students learn best when they feel safe, secure, and comfortable. Flex seating would support the "comfort" of students in the classroom. Giving students a choice of where to sit, and providing exercise balls and wobble stools, is one way of supporting students who would benefit from alternative seating.
