Working in a small, low-income school is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. However, that can sometimes mean that getting necessary materials is challenging. This project will greatly impact my classroom as it will provide the books we need to complete our literacy program. According to research, reading to a child promotes brain development. Our literacy program does this by taking books like "The Rainbow Fish" and using them to carry out discussions about the characters in the story and also to teach important skills like sharing. We can also use books like "A Tree for All Seasons" to teach the kids important knowledge about the seasons. Books are great tools that can be used to introduce new topics so that we can branch out into important conversations and activities related to each topic. With each of these books, my students will be learning new vocabulary, social skills, science and social studies concepts, and more! I already have the curriculum prepped and ready for them, we simply need the stories that go along with it. Please help support my students' learning by providing the means for us to add these important books to our classroom library!
