Kindergartners can easily identify basic colors, which makes color a "go to" for classroom management. My current classroom has chairs that are all one color, which makes identifying table groups difficult. These chairs are also older, easy to tip, and tend to snag on the carpeted floors. My students will clearly know when it is their table group's turn for an activity by identifying and matching up their table group's chair color. Students will know which reading or math center their table group should be doing, or which STEM group activity they need to work on. Classroom transitions will also be easier! I will be able to call out a group color and students will know to line up, or take a bathroom break, or get supplies for a project. I have chosen durable red, orange, blue, and green chairs that are easy to clean and can be stacked. The chairs are also designed to resist tipping, which is a great safety feature for kindergartners! I have carpet in my classroom and these chairs will glide smoothly over it. My students will be excited for the new chair colors, and it will add some color to the classroom! This project will help make classroom management easier and more enjoyable for them, and the updated design will add make the classroom safer.
