Choice Time is when students are given the opportunity to practice social skills, improve their fine motor skills, and become problem solvers through natural play and curiosity. Play is not dead in the classroom! The materials I have selected all serve to support my students' learning, such as play food for dramatic play to improve language skills and social interactions, or play dough so they can express themselves creatively while improving their fine motor and organizational skills. The discoveries our students make through Choice Time are crucial to their lives as learners - from figuring out strategies to create a marble maze to working cooperatively with a group to create a block town. Students apply what they learn in reading, writing, math, social studies, and science during Choice Time, giving them a chance to actually practice the skills we want to see them display as life-long learners. Your generous donation will not only help this year, but for many years to come! This collection of Choice Time materials will become a treasured part of our classroom, helping to develop the many other intelligent and creative young children who will walk through our doors in the coming years.
