The students in my class have the desire to succeed, but many lack access to basic materials, like books, at home. While school districts provide many supplies for students, creating classroom libraries are the sole responsibility of the teacher. To become better readers students must practice reading.
Young readers need access to reading materials of varying levels and subject matter. With this project students will have unfettered access to TIME For Kids magazine and award winning books from Classroom Library Must-Haves, Caldecott, and Newbery Library Builder book sets. Students will be able to check out books for reading in class and at home. Students will love having the chance to practice comprehension skills using books of interest to them.
