Students pass my class knowing that they participated in the cultivation of their own learning!
The majority of my students will be first generation college students, with 50% qualifying as socioeconomically disadvantaged. To best serve the needs of this population we spend a considerable amount of time developing the skills needed to be scientifically literate.
The Next Generation Science Standards are allowing us to have lots of fun as we anchor curriculum to contemporary, interesting and often controversial phenomena.
Through the course of the year students develop a deep understanding of the structures and functions that keep us alive and make life on Earth possible.
