I teach students with multiple disabilities. These students often have uplifting personalities, although live traumatic lives. They are from low income families that often have only one parent or a grandparent raising them. They struggle with hunger and have free lunches offered at school.
Although, I have shown them yoga, we lack the resources to fully engage in it. The yoga mats will enable us to work out daily with our students, thus helping them to relieve stress in their lives. It will teach them positive strategies in lives filled with trauma.
They enjoy variety and yoga will fulfill that for them as well.
