My students love coming to my technology class and are learning computer science concepts which includes coding and unplugged computer science activities. For many of my students this has been the first experience they have had touching a computer. They love all the hands-on activities we do and the work they do collaboratively solving problems both on and off the computer.
My classes are working towards acquiring 21st century skills which will prepare them for careers of the future. My kids get excited every time they learn a new skill on the computer and love the on-line coding applications we use.
My school does not have funding for computer science coding activities so everything I have done so far is based on any free online resources I can find.
I would like to introduce the Lego WeDo robotics to my students so they can have the experience learning physical computing which is part of a robust computer science program. They will build (engineering) and code the robots and it will be integrated into the Next Generation Science Standards.
