In my classroom, we follow Lucy Calkins' Reading Workshop model. Each day, students have protected time to read books of their choosing. My students will be reading these books every day throughout the entire school year. These books will help to build the students' reading fluency, comprehensions, and critical thinking skills.
Students will be immersed in their reading, lounging around the classroom each day. I love seeing them partner and group read when they find something that truly interests them. By helping them to fall in love with reading, I'm helping to build them as leaders and lifelong learners. I specifically chose these chapter books because they cover a wide range of interests with various story lines and characters that my students can connect with.
