The furniture for this project will allow my students to have flexible seating options. Students will be able to sit on the bean bags to read a book. The comfy pillows will give the kids a cozy space to sit on or lay down to read a good book and they are easy to move around the room. The floor seats will give the students back support and allow them to stretch their legs.
Flexible seating offers choice. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed throughout the day.
It offers benefits to physical health. Kids need to move. Flexible seating allows them to increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
Flexible seating also builds community. Traditional desks can make students territorial or possessive over their space and supplies. Flexible seating encourages students to share both.
