I envision the reading nook as being a calming place where students can relax and write, read or draw. Maybe I'll call it the creative nook instead of reading nook. Hmmm something to think about. They will earn time here through good behavior and following classroom guidelines.
The comfortable and alternative seating will give them choices as to where they sit. The carpet will define the area to help create a space of relaxation free from "school work".
I have high expectations of my students and this is an integral part of rewarding them for meeting those expectations.
