I am requesting this professional development experience that will support me in making 3rd grade reading standards meaningful for all of my students. My reading block consists of differentiated small groups working on various assignments and activities. The professional development I receive from this four-day "all inclusive" teaching conference is one of a kind. This project will teach me how to implement fun and engaging lessons that will support students' academic growth.
It is crucial as a teacher to grow each year and renew my teaching skills, find the fun in teaching, and always be the best educator for my students!
Through this professional development conference and workshop I will learn to plan lessons that will keep my students engaged and show them how fun reading can be. As a departmentalized teacher who teaches only reading, it can be a struggle to make reading fun and engaging. There are so many resources for math and science, but limited resources for reading. With the help of the skills I will learn at the GYTO conference I plan on creating lessons that will allow my students to dive into their imagination and explore regions of the world in a way that will take them beyond flipping through a textbook. This conference will help me fulfill a dream as an educator and be the best for my students!
