My students often face challenges throughout the day both academically and socially. They may get stuck on a difficult math problem or not know how to share a toy with a friend. Sometimes students need to take space to cool off, reflect, and get back on track. At the peace table, students acknowledge their feelings in a quiet space and calm themselves with materials such as a mini-Hoberman sphere, a liquid motion bubble timer, a bouncy band, and a wiggle cushion so they can get back to what's most important...their learning.
By donating to our project you are helping students deal with their emotions and stressors in a calm and proactive way. The materials at the peace table provide the foundation to teach students valuable life skills such as self-awareness and self-management. Students learn to deal with their emotions in a healthy manner so they can then return to their peers and work and be productive members of the classroom community.
