Children learn when they are able to experience it through meaningful activiites that are connected to real life. As an elementary school librarian, it is my responsibility to help prepare my students for the classroom and their future by offering them opportunities to acquire 21st century skills. Critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, flexibility, and productivity are necessary for success in all aspects of life.
When kids are involved in something that seems like play, they do not realize they are learning. Teaching children to understand real life problems in a school setting is not always easy. Hands-on learning with Bee Bot robots will enable my students to discover how to problem solve, sequence, practice trial and error situations, learn to give appropriate instructions, be effective team players, be creative, and much more while having fun.
Offering opportunities with exciting hands-on objects will allow my students to apply and generalize the concepts used with programming the robot into their math and science learning. Practicing with a robot can encourage more children to continue to learn the language of programming and consider the field of Computer Science, an area of great demand. Please consider helping to grow the field by getting students interested at an early age.
