The students we serve are all in search of guidance and direction. Unfortunately many of my students come from single parent households and have few male role models. Sports are seen as a way out for our students, but many of them struggle with the discipline, dedication and training needed to be successful. By having the equipment I am requesting I will be able to give proper instruction and training that the students are lacking. Our team has trouble being adequately prepared to compete with some of the other schools because we do not have some of the necessary equipment to properly train and learn.
Football allows my students to learn discipline, dedication and confidence that is needed to help them be successful on the field, in the classroom and most importantly in life. Giving my students the opportunity to develop their skills and put themselves in position to continue playing, be successful in the classroom and have the chance to compete for a scholarship to continue their education is important. Having the footballs, wrist coach, target net and kicking tee's will provide my students the opportunity to learn and grow. When they become better athletes and are able to compete with the other schools in our district the sense of pride and self-esteem my students will have is something that I feel will carry over into the classroom. Giving them confidence will also help with their internal motivation and social skills. The progress they make on the field with the use of this equipment will quickly transfer to the classroom and ultimately in the community.
