My students thrive on hands on activities. I'm currently a new teacher at the school that I am at, and I don't have many classroom supplies. I do however, have an overwhelming amount of math and science manipulatives. I have 6 boxes of math manipulatives such as pattern blocks, dice, shapes, base ten blocks, weights, 3-d shapes, the list goes on and on! We also have an overwhelming amount of science materials.
My project is to have organized stations where students can independently work towards understanding new concepts. To do this, I will need to have organizational supplies to support my students. With these organizational supplies, students will be able to select the station they would like to learn at, and be more self directed with in the lesson.
Furthermore, by having these self-directed stations, I can break the lesson down into smaller homogeneous groups, and have a more successful and meaningful learning experience for each student.
