Since vocabulary and comprehension are major areas of concern with my students, I think the more practice and drill through hands on activities will enhance or build a bridge between the two. The daily language interactive journal will give the students additional practice on a daily basis. This can be used as an intervention tools, as well as the reading comprehension games.
The fluency skills, vocabulary and comprehension cards will be used daily in learning centers as well as in small groups. I feel the more students are exposed to a struggling skill, the more effective the students will be on major assessments. Without vocabulary, comprehension will always be a student's weak point. These games and learning materials will be used in small and whole group settings. The students will take turns reading the sentences or words, using context clues to identify the correct answer. This enhances the metacognitive process. Students will track and record progress using these materials.
