Our reading classroom is a comfort zone where students can push themselves out of their comfort zones! It's a place where they can feel safe expressing their thoughts, sharing their ideas, and trying new and difficult things!
My students are active, engaged individuals who are encouraged to become independent, inquisitive, life-long learners.
Having a classroom that is set up in order to enable this type of learning requires a variety of seating and work spaces to allow the students to participate in a wide array of both group work and independent activities. When they have choices, students are more likely to have a sense of ownership over their learning.
