Students feel empowered by having choice and control over their environment. With flexible seating in the classroom my students will be allowed to pick an area to work independently or in small groups. The large classroom rug will provide students a place to sit or lay while reading, drawing, etc. The small stools chosen will be placed at a curved table for four at which the students will practice counting manipulatives and writing and creating stories. With the cushions available for the children to use they will be given independence in picking where they want to work. Perhaps they will chose a low table or maybe they will chose to work leaning on the wall. The options are endless!
