Five groups of 30-40 students come through my room each day to learn a second language. Many of them are struggling to acquire the English they need to survive in their regular classes, while others are embarking upon new adventures in Spanish or Japanese. I even have native Spanish speakers who have mastered English and are now exploring a third language. I strive to use the target language in my classes, so students need as much visual aid as possible in order to understand and internalize new vocabulary, grammar, and cultural norms. A projection onto a large screen will bring to ideas we read about into vivid color.
