Many of my students come from low income homes-they come from single parent homes or both parents work 2 jobs. Many students work to bring in additional income. The idea of attending college to some was not even an option due to their finances or just no family support.
My dream is to have a dorm store and fill it with the necessary items, such as towels, pillowcases, and sheets, they need to go off to college without the extra financial stress. I know I cannot supply everything for them, but the basics is a good place to start. Knowing I can give them a little extra is a wonderful feeling-and I know they will all be thankful and appreciative.
