My integrated early childhood classroom is composed of enthusiastic learners, with many different interests and abilities. Half of my students have an individualized education plan based on a developmental disability, and half do not. There is also a two year age-span among the students. Included in the many interests of the class, there are several students that love to build and design structures, some love art and writing, and some love to learn through music.
One thing all the students have in common is a great love for books! They love read-aloud stories with the whole class, looking at books in the classroom library, picking out their own books when the local library comes to visit, and having one-on-one time with the teacher to be read their favorite book. My goal is to encourage that love of reading and learning by providing as much daily exposure to literacy as possible in fun and motivating ways.
