My students desperately need a music curriculum that addresses their needs. Most of the students I teach are below grade level in all subject areas, including music! My students find their voices through culturally relevant folk songs and rhymes, which help to improve speech, dexterity, body awareness, and a multitude of other transferable skills. During each lesson we cover a variety of skills: echo songs, improvisation, songtales, simple songs, movement exploration, keeping the beat, and movement to classical music just to name a few. Every child deserves a quality education, regardless of race or economic status. I believe that an excellent music education opens pathways to success that may otherwise be closed. My students need and deserve the best music curriculum available and I strive to provide that for them in any way that I can. Thank you for your help!
