I am a special education teacher working with students in K-5 who have social/emotional issues. My classroom is a program room where some of my students spend their whole day. Some of my students do push out to the general education classroom, in their case my room is a sanctuary when they need it and a place to come for interventions.
At any given time we have at least one student in the room, but often it will be 3-4 students at a time. As students come for sensory breaks, emotional breaks or to fill their educational gaps. In our room we strive to help students obtain self-efficacy in the general education classroom and beyond.
