This project will allow the students to be exposed to different texts and give them more choice in what they read. "Black Swan Green" and "Letters to a Young Poet" will go along with the "Romeo and Juliet" unit to add diversity and different perspectives to the unit. It will allow them to compare and contrast themes and central ideas across texts as well as the comparison of characters. "Oedipus the King" will encourage students to analyze how multiple themes can be developed over the course of a text. By donating to this project students will be afforded the opportunities to read different texts that have connections to texts they will already be reading.
