In first grade we use various centers such as reading, computer, word games, and listening center. Currently my classroom does not have a listening center. Not having this center means my students are missing out on the key skill of listening to various grade level stories. Listening is a crucial skill that will give students the ability to read. Having a listening center would complete my centers and set my students up for success.
The standing easel and pocket chart will allow me to easily display information and help students learn. This might mean breaking down words on the white board or using the pocket chart to display sight words.
The canopy I included will be added to my reading corner/chill zone. This area is set up to be relaxing and a place where students can be more comfortable.
