Why the Surface Pro for my class? The Surface Pro is an excellent tablet that is portable and will allow me to teach anywhere in my class. I can use it for whole-class instruction, small groups, and most importantly individually!
To begin with, the Surface Pro will allow for effective whole-class instruction. Right now, my computer is on my desk and when I have to switch screens I have to walk around to my desk. This brings on downtime and wiggle time for my class of mostly boys! I believe this will eliminate that downtime when I'm able to carry the tablet around with me.
Another reason, the Surface Pro will be used for small group instruction. When I pull small groups for math or ELA I can use my tablet instead of unplugging my computer. It's small enough to move easily around but large enough for a small group of students to see.
Finally, I can use the Surface Pro individually while I'm walking around. This will allow me to help pinpoint specific issues to students at their desks.
By donating to this project, I'm hoping that this will help my students continue to learn through a STEM-based curriculum.
