Sensory Play helps all children learn, but for kids with special needs, it can be a game changer!
Sensory play is an awesome way for students with disabilities to become better learners.
Sensory Play helps to increase attention spans and social interaction skills. It also aides in the development of gross and fine motor skills. Sensory activities allow children to refine their thresholds for different sensory information, helping their brain to create stronger connections to sensory information and learn which are useful and which can be filtered out.
Weighted blankets and body socks are a great way for kids with sensory needs to calm down and relax during times of stress. Harsh florescent lighting can cause students with disabilities to become agitated or distracted. The light filters, rope lighting, and star projector will create a calm relaxing environment. The rest of the supplies requested will round out the sensory experience for my students and make my classroom the sanctuary they need.
