The majority of the materials used during my speech-therapy sessions are either made by me or need to be adapted in order for my students to be able to use them. I can use the paper provided by the school, but don't have access to any of the other materials I need to make these items. I have found that any materials printed in color are much more engaging for students and are beneficial for students that I work with with visual impairments. Unfortunately, we do not have access to a color printer at our school. I use the lamination sheets for durability and then the velcro tabs make the materials interactive. The students are able to move pieces while we read which helps them to be active participants.
Using good quality materials will help me be able to use these books from year to year with many different students! I can use these books to target many different skills, including concepts, following directions, answering questions, vocabulary, grammar, creating sentences, and using AAC devices.
