I have many students that come into the resource room that have decreased attention and concentration during their academic work. Currently, I have all "old school" chairs in the classroom and the students spend some time standing, laying on the floor or tipping these chairs. I am looking at getting some flexible seating in the classroom to help them with concentration during their work in my room.
I am looking to get some wobbly stools in the hope of decreasing their need to tip as these stools will allow them to safely get that feeling without being unsafe in the regular chairs. I have added stools that will allow them to sit and work on the core muscles by not relying on the back of the chairs to help them sit up. We can also add the wiggly cushions to also let them have the sensation while in a chair or on a stool. I am also looking at the bands to go on the chairs to help them while they are in their grade level classroom. This will help them be successful while in their grade level classroom which is a major goal for many of my students.
