My students come from one of the lowest socio economic towns in Hawaii and some struggle with having adequate school supplies. Simple things such as binders are expensive and not a need for many of my students. Supplies like markers and highlighters that we expect all students to buy during the summer is not a reality for my students when many of them help pay family bills. Providing these students with these daily supplies will help them be prepared to learn in class and not feel inadequate to other students who do have the financial stability to afford these supplies.
