I am asking for Chromebooks and headphones so the children that are lacking the necessary foundational reading skills like letter identification, phonics, and sight word reading can gain access to the i-Read program.
We have an opportunity to provide these children with the fundamental skills they missed, at home or in kindergarten, so they can become enthusiastic life-long readers (and learners), but lack the technology to do so.
The i-Read program starts with foundational skills giving students explicit instruction in skills that are needed to build up to proficient reading. Once they gain these skills, there are no limits to what they can do in their futures. It all starts with reading.
