The donations requested for this project include a color printer for printing colorful displays, labels for the classroom environment, and literacy and math resources for students; a laminator to extend the life of these printed resources, and a paper cutter that will help in preparing materials for student use. The donations will facilitate communication, enhance learning, and help to improve my students' competency in skills and concepts necessary for success in school for years to come. Students that are unable to communicate will have a "voice" and all students will have the resources that help facilitate knowledge and skill acquisition.
A colorful environment/work materials enhance a child's learning potential, increases productivity, has calming effects, stimulates brain activity, is associated with creativity, heightens concentration, and has shown to positively impact comprehension. In short, consider the power of color. 80% of the brain receives information visually. In order to paint the perfect future for young children, a little color goes along way.
