In our classroom, we use big thinking in child-friendly ways to learn...this educational rigor! We are learning to collaborate, empathize, negotiate, be a flexible thinker, and other core social skills through purposeful play. We are learning to make meaning out of our experiences as we work in our centers.
Play is essential work for children!!! It can develop students' creativity and allows them to make connections with things that are familiar to them. Play-based learning gives children the opportunity to experiment and discover concepts and facts at their own pace, and in their own way, while being guided and supported by their teachers.
Children learn in different ways – some learn by seeing, some by hearing, some by reading, some by doing. In my class, I believe giving children the chance to play with other children is a great way for them develop the skills they needs to get on with others. A child's community connections can offer valuable learning experiences too.
