Our wonderful students are in need of a safe space to retreat to, away from the chaos, dysfunction, and violence that they experience both at home and at school. My desire is to create a counseling space that is inviting, inspiring, and relaxing. This space will help to foster positive relationships amongst peers who seek it out, as well as with the students and the counselor. Our school has some of the highest rates of serious violent incidents in the city. Offering them a quiet, safe space that offers food and water is motivation for them to come to school and to interact with the counselor.

About my class
