I teach special education in a public elementary school in an urban area. All of the students in my classroom exhibit moderate to severe special needs and require an intensely structured educational setting. Mine is an "Intermediate Lifeskills Classroom" and the students are in the 3rd through the 6th grade. Most of them participate in general education settings for socialization and to increase independence; however, all of their academic instruction occurs in a separate classroom setting.
