I have a very diverse group of learners. Many of them have learning disabilities that make it difficult to focus, which may result in them being less successful. Active seating is fidget-friendly, so, for my students who squirm in their seats and can't resist the impulse to move, it's a way to channel their excess energy into constructive movement. Active seating will acknowledge my students need to move, but at the same time, it will keep them sitting still enough so that the class can continue lessons uninterrupted.
Active sitting leads to active learning.
The more my kids are allowed to wiggle, rock, and bounce the more their brains are able to focus on classroom work. I want to provide active and dynamic seating options in my classroom that encourages brain power and promotes effective learning.
