Students will be designing costumes for shows, but also need to learn to construct these designs. Sewing machines are essential for taking their idea and imagination to the next step. It is also a skill they can carry with them into life and be a useful for home and personal projects. They will be learning to take a pattern and to cut the fabric correctly. They will learn to read the pattern instructions and how to assemble the pieces, add details and complete project. They will then do more complex projects next.
