I work at a Title one school and as an Art Teacher I can not order many things due to low funds. As an elementary Art Teacher they do not give us a budget. We just have to make an order and they will get what they can. Well air dry clay is something I haven't been able to get.
I want my students to learn about sculpting and learn how to use their hands and imagination to create art! They think art is only drawing and I want them to know that it't more then that! Art is what you make of it!
Being able to use clay and clay tools, also helps with good motor skills. Especially for the young ones and the older ones too! Kids today seem to be losing their motor skills. Playing on tablets and cell phones has made them lose the skills they should know. Using scissors and just drawing has become hard for them.
Having them learn the skills of sculpting will not only help their motor skills but will also help them with critical thinking and thinking outside of the box. But I can not do this without the help of others.
