Many of my students come from low-income households in an urban community in Durham, North Carolina. My school is a Title I funded school where almost all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Students may be facing tough situations at home, including financial, social, and emotional difficulties. As the School Counselor, I would use these materials to help educate, motivate and improve my students' learning experience. As stated above, a lot of our families struggle financially so some students arrive to school late due to missing the bus and therefor miss their first meal of the day. The snacks will assist in fulfilling hunger and allowing our students to focus on learning.
