Fully color-coded and organized binders will allow my students to take something home and feel ownership of their learning. The binders will be used for home practice, in-class instruction, concerts, and field trips.
I have seen multiple music programs that provide binders for every student in their ensembles, and it makes a huge impact. I chose binders over folders because they are meant to be used extensively and are far more durable. The color paper adds fun to the binders for the children while increasing learning with color association. It will also allow me to give simple instructions for the students at these young grade levels. The plastic sheets in the binders, help with durability and outside performances that happen later in the year. They help block the music from wind and rain!
From an instructional standpoint, the binders will allow me to create a handmade curriculum that supports individual and group learning. It is as easy as a click! To add a new supplement when the students need it.
Finally, the best part of the binders is that they will be unique to every student. They will be organized the same yet become individualized over time. Students will be able to show off their instrument "birth certificates" right in the front pocket of the binder and the back side will hold their method books. Their binders will also hold their name tags, they will use these for every class and will show off their personal achievements!
