Been in a long meeting all day and you need to get up and move around because you are starting to loose interest? Well this is the same for my kiddos. They a need to be able to get up and get their wiggles out to be able to help them focus on the task at hand. Flexible seating would allow them to have the choice to sit where and how they like. I would like to provide my students with many different options of flexible seating to help them become better flexible learners.
By allowing my students to choose where they sit, and how they sit, helps them be more invested in what is going on around them.
Every student is unique and has an unique way of learning. It is my job to be able to provide the best learning environment for them.
Research shows that kids need to be moving, it helps the brain as well as helps them stay healthy. So does having the choice to sit on wiggle stools, sitting in a inflatable chair instead of a hard uncomfortable chair, on having a wobble cushion to sit on to help with the wiggles and helping a student stay on task. My second graders have a few choices to sit how they choose but by being able to give them more options on a flexible learning environment they will get to choose if they sit at a desk, or at a small table with a wobble cushion. They may also choose to sit at a table with a wiggle stool. My second graders are able to be more invested, more focused being able to have choice in their learning which will enhance the learning on a daily bases.
