Our school has been open for 6 years and my students are eager to start the 7th! At the end of our school year last year I watched my students sign signatures and goodbye messages into personal books, t-shirts, and even some arms and legs. It didn't dawn on me until this moment that my students had no way of cherishing their 5th grade memories from the year. Our schools is small, and our funds are low making a yearbook low priority.
My students memories of school, and their love for learning need to be a priority. Their school year should be something they can look back on and remember. This year my 5th graders are excited to embark on a new journey. Together, and at their request, as a class we will start our schools first yearbook. Creation of the yearbook will be led by me and at the end of the year it will serve as concrete memory of all of their handwork and dedication throughout the year. Our school will be raising money so that each student can have a yearbook free of cost upon its completion at the end of the school year.
The camara will be used to take pictures throughout the year that can be uploaded and added to our schools yearbook. The Chromebooks will be for the students to use to design the yearbooks pages, and write the captions needed for photos.
