A subscription to Storyworks will provide engaging texts, multiple genres and digital features that will intrigue students. The format will motivate students and introduce them to new genres. The content will captivate their attention, make them globally aware citizens and foster a love of reading. The fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays and debates in each publication will be used with the support activities to develop skills such as main idea, finding text evidence, vocabulary, grammar, summarizing, analyzing and writing. The articles will allow for differentiation and provide a springboard for discussion and further reading or research. Storyworks will attract the students' attention and keep them reading; therefore developing skills, confidence and strength in reading performance. Research proves that students need meaningful time with text in order to grow as readers. The digital features will allow for access from home as well as correlated videos to build background knowledge and audio reading for student support.
