I'm a Fifth grade science teacher that works in a low income, Title 1 School located in Dallas, Texas. 98% percent of my fifth graders come from low income homes. I teach a total of 104 students that come from first generation Hispanic families. A need I came across this year were incoming students from foreign countries. They get super excited to start working in lab stations to investigate the science content through hands-on learning. Throughout the year we are in need of various materials and resources to support and integrate the TEKS for fifth grade Science STAAR to assess a student's achievements and knowledge learned in the grade level. It is very important for me to build a community of trust with my students. I know that if I invest the time to get to know my students that they will thrive and also invest their effort into their own learning and progress.
