Chromebooks are the perfect addition to all classrooms. With the addition of free apps and extensions, students can expand their learning by utilizing "real world" experiences and on-line simulations. Our school is part of a Google district, and Chromebooks will allow concept specific apps and district on-line curriculum and textbooks to be easily pushed out to students. These Chromebooks will allow our students to take virtual field trips, exploring concepts in a new way, and seeing places otherwise impossible for them to visit. This is critical for our students who suffered wide-spread devastation not only within the school system but within the community due to the extensive flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey and the flooding of the Colorado River which runs directly through Wharton.
Educational time is so precious. It is advantageous for a student to have a Chromebook instead of using valuable time checking out a device from a librarian.
All colleges use some form of Cloud-based storage and online classes. By exposing our students to Google Apps and the online environment, we are providing tools for our students to prepare them for the technology that students face in higher education.
Giving students Chromebooks is an amazing way to get students actively engaged while allowing students to take ownership of their own education which will open new horizons for their future.
