Reading groups are one of the best ways to help get students excited about reading. My students love discussing what we're reading and can't wait to see what will happen next. They always groan when we have to clean up for the day. The students become engrossed in the projects they work on in their reading groups and enjoy working together to create something new.
With these new books, we will be able to reach more students on their reading level and help them increase their interest in discovering new titles!
These books will help our third grade create full sets of fiction and non-fiction books so we can increase the number and variety of reading groups. We have more students this year and don't have enough of certain books to accommodate the larger groups. The non-fiction texts will help students make connections between what they read in fictional stories and real life experiences.
