Spooner Boards will provide my students with a unique opportunity to gain balance, strength, coordination and overall fitness. These boards will create new motivation surrounding their Physical Education curriculum as they are not like anything they have done before and are incredibly fun to use! They will also be a creative tool to meet our state performance standards as students can link their new found skills together to create movement routines to music. Many students will welcome this change away from traditional "dance".
Not only will students benefit from valuable physical education and fitness gains, it will provide them opportunities to take advantage of the outdoor adventures in their community. Learning skills on a Spooner Board will transfer directly to numerous other balance activities and board sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, and surfing. These boards will be used indoors to learn basic lead-up skills and then will be used outdoors during our five months of snowy winter. Spooner Boards will motivate my students to be risk takers, learn new skills, and engage in the outdoor adventures our community has to offer.
