The materials I am asking for is only a part of what I will need to help my students. The majority of my students are from households where Spanish is spoken as the main language. About 80% of the students receive free or reduced lunch.
Class Projects
The rocket launcher will be used to test water bottle rockets. Solar Astronaut robots will be used as a model/prototype for students to explore and apply engineering skills. The pop beads will be used to make different DNA models. As students plan, design and make their model rockets they will test and redesign. Students will be making robots and competing with these robots to do specific tasks. Students will be doing a variety of project based learning activities. My students learn science by working together by brainstorming, building and problem solving. Seeing that their models work often brings excitement and a feeling of success to everyone.
These supplies will be well received by my student and the experiences they will get from working together and creating models is unfathomable!
